In a letter to his brother, Ted recounts an important figure from his childhood and delves into how his inability to form relationships haunts him.
Fitz and his team must find enough evidence to secure a warrant for Ted's arrest before a reporter shares news of the FBI's investigation.
When Ted fails to have evidence against him thrown out, Fitz makes one last effort to convince Ted to plead guilty.

When you phrase it like this, it isn't very original like Mindhunters, which is also on Netflix. However, the dialogues are interesting.

The Unabomber was named Ted Kaczynski. He was a bipedal mammal, as were the FBI agents hunting him. Beyond that, I am completely unsure of anything else portrayed in this docudrama.
The main character, Agent Fitzgerald, wasn't even in many of the places the show puts him in. That's just the beginning of the factual dissonance within.
The writers, in so many words, say Fitzgerald is composited and other liberties taken a because we are too stupid or lazy to have been interested in the actual story.
I, for one, would have been more interested in a truthful telling of the story, instead of this dramatized whatever it is.
If Discovery ever puts their hack squad to work on the Apollo 13 story there will be one composite astronaut aboard, a love story subplot and it will involve Mars, not the Moon.
I really feel cheated out of the time I did spend watching this before the hamfisted dramatization efforts became so glaringly obvious to me that I had to do a little research online to see if I was being fed a load.

Treats the subject of one of the most bizarre, politically pointed, and engrossing criminals in American history with a degree of candor and depth that few other productions have matched.

Nov 08, Jul 17, This version is not a true story. There was never an interview between ted and Fitz. I don't know why the series picked fitz as the main FBI agent if there more agents involved in the case that he was and that were actually part of the search investigation or that got to interview him.
