This groundbreaking series exceptional real film, and sound recordings from the early 's is being promoted now because a brand new year anniversary series is about to be released on a well known premier pay network and they are trying to reinvigorate old fans and to bring in new ones as the debut of the new series nears.

When the original series first aired in April , the promotion mantra was, "Who killed Laura Palmer? Consequently for the producers of the series, when that question was answered in December of , a big portion of the audience lost interest, or were confused, since most thought the whole purpose of Twin Peaks was to solve the murder of Laura Palmer, and perhaps that of Teresa Banks who was mentioned early in the series, and was more prominently featured in the movie "Fire Walk With Me", which was released after the series ended in The series never recovered from this marketing mistake, since most fans, like myself, did not realize at the time that Twin Peaks was originally intended to be an all-in-one "nighttime soap opera" PG by today's standards that was to have drama, mystery, horror, comedy, and sci-fi all wrapped up in the stories of the residents of the fictitious town of Twin Peaks, tucked into the NE corner of Washington state USA just south of the Canadian border.

So in the first 17 of the 30 total episodes aired, few people got invested in any of the stories of other Twin Peaks residents, that were not directly related to the murder of Laura Palmer.

This revolutionary series is a bit dated now, although, as I said at the beginning, the audio and video are exceptional, and they play well on HD and in surround sound.

You should watch this if you plan on watching the new Twin Peaks coming out in just to get the background on some of the characters who will show up in the new series.

I think it's one of the most intensely Wild, insane, funny, bizzare and strangest shows ever to be televised but I would hate to say that I don't love it There has never been nor will ever be any other show like it.

I loved the entire series and yes the second season did go off the rails and it was more of a surreal comedy somewhat yet still retained some great stories from some of the other characters besides the Palmer's.

I do like James Hurley and his family but his story was probably the weakest of the show yet like I said I do like James and even in this third season as well.

I do not think there will be another show like Twin Peaks and back in the nineties I was too busy out and about with friends a lot and it was a great time period for me but I do regret that I missed Twin Peaks when it was first aired and I was a johnny-come-lately but it's so glad that I have been able to watch it.

If you want to show that will keep you on the edge of your seat and blow your mind at the same time and have a good chuckle now and then then this show is for you.

Nothing really needs to be said about the show as it all has been said before suffice it to say I very much enjoyed it. What I didn't like especially was the menu navigation on disks 2 and 3.

It looks great but I was unable to differentiate between the chapter options as the hight lighting was a bit limited for me and I kept ending up in the wrong sub menu.

I thought I would buy the full series just to rekindle the magic of acting, the plot, the twists and turns and damn fine cups of Joe. It is a fantastic set of episodes and brought back some great memories.
