Finally, Moon Bloodgood was great, courageous, gorgeous, and really hot as Blair Williams. The action is no-holds-barred taut, intense, and highly exhilarating.
I especially loved such action scenes as the one where Marcus Wright and Kyle Reese take one highly action packed road fight against Moto-Terminators and a spy droid.
Another exciting and explosive action sequence is this battle that they have with this giant robot that aims it's cannons and blows away any resistance fighter that attempts to escape and grabs with its robot hands and takes prisoner those that are close by.
I like the Terminator movies pretty well. This movie is definitely better than the 3rd, which I didn't really care for. I really enjoyed Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, he is a really good actor.
Sam Worthington is a decent actor with one caveat: his accent. The man cannot hold an American accent to save his life. I found his dialogue very distracting.
The second thing that bothered me was the ending. Like they could really pull off a heart transplant under those conditions.
I know movies require a degree of suspended disbelief but the ending actually made me laugh out loud at how ridiculous it was. I know a lot of people didn't like this movie but I found it enjoyable.
I wanted to see a movie during the actual war with the machines. With 1, 2, 3, they were all during different time periods to prevent the war.
This showed us what happened during the war. Yes, there are inconsistencies come on now look at the X-men series when your dealing with time alternates this is going to happen but overall this was super fun.
Go into this movie and have fun with it. I'm not a big Christian Bale fan but thought he did pretty good. Nice addition to the series. Sam Worthington did an outstanding job as Marcus Wright, the convicted murderer who is given a second chance by the dying Dr.
Serena Kogan in However, Marcus's second chance begins in when he is awakened or freed from his Skynet cell for a special mission. Of course Marcus is unaware of his true, altered self and his deadly mission programmed into his brain by Skynet.
As the film evolves, the concept of what is truly human is examined in intricate detail. Michael Ironside as General Ashdown gave another stellar performance as the war-weary commander who wanted to end Skynet once and for all with an all out assault with a secret weapon.
Ironside always delivers a memorable character. Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, the most wanted man on the Skynet world, and his young apprentice, Star played brilliantly by Jadagrace added a nice touch to this CGI laden film.
You could say Star saves the day at the end of the film. There were a few new twists to the story which this film explored. The scene in the manufacturing facility where John Connor is searching for Kyle was a surprise for fans of the first three films.
This was well done. Overall, the film is a good story told well and the CGI is well integrated into the human interaction. The ending is not as surprising as intended since one could have surmised what the second chance motif actually meant throughout the film.
Terminator 5 will see Arnold Schwarzenegger "in the flesh". Could have been a better movie, but the actors made the day! I love the Terminator series of films, but I must admit, a couple of them were disappointing, but not so bad as to not have entertainment value.
Let's face it - the first movie was so good that the bar was set very high for the subject! So it will take everything a producer and director can put out to keep up this high standard of bone jarring action suspense!
So far I'd collect all of them to date! A movie that finally shows the future war with the machines. A lot of machines and some plot. The main character, John Connor, is just a voice which we don't see why people follow him.
He does not save a lot of people until the end of the movie. The Marcus character is the real star. He has background, depth of character, and is faced with the true burden in the movie.
As for the ending of the movie, the discarded ending, which is referenced online and in the Blu-ray version is much more fascinating ending with John being killed by Marcus who assumed his face.
Overall this movie tries to start its own trilogy and fails at being a stand alone movie. The first and second films still hold up today. See all reviews.
Top reviews from other countries. Ever since Kyle Reece explained to Sarah Connor what the future would look like when the machines ruled the Earth, Terminator fans have been desperate to see more of those dark, gritty, laser-filled scenes that James Cameron dropped into the first two movies.
Now, we finally get to see a whole movie showing us what the future world would look like. However, I will say that this film would have been a damn sight better if it simply omitted his character completely.
He did all he could with what he was given. I contacted this seller to tell them that the dvd was faulty and would not play on two different computer dvd players.
I couldn't send it back because I was shielding so haven't been outside of the house. This seller told me they would send me another dvd as a replacement and that I didn't need to send the rubbish one back, but not to write them an unhelpful review.
However, the second one has never shown up so this is my review and it's unfavourable because I don't like being lied to. Report abuse. The Terminator franchise is often seen as one that has not quite delivered on the potential it has but for me the franchise is one of the better action ones out there.
This film is one I really had high hopes for and felt was OK but just didn't quite live up to the previous offerings. Still worth a watch but hopefully the next one can bring things back on track.
One person found this helpful. We bury our dead. Everything I'd heard about this film had been bad so I wasn't expecting much from it - but I was pleasantly surprised, it wasn't that bad at all, in fact it was pretty good!
The first Terminator film was an accomplished work of both action and science fiction, more surprisingly it generated a sequel which was also a high calibre film which impressed on all levels.
A third film some years later fell a bit flat and this movie was quite literally a salvation of the Terminator franchise, and I think it succeeded.
Please try again later. Verified Purchase. Well when this movie came out I ran to the theaters to see how this one would play out all the same and thankfully with this chapter in terms of action, special effects, characterization, and new things to bring to the series this chapter had plenty to offer.
Furthermore, 10 years have passed and for me this movie still holds up. The actors were clearly well selected.
Christian Bale was intense, believable and stayed completely in character as major resistance fighter John Connor. The late Anton Yelchin was excellent as teenage Kyle Reese.
Cute little newcomer Jadagrace was good as Star. Michael Ironside was his usual intense take-no-prisoners type as Ashdown. Common did well in his bit part as Barnes.
Sam Worthington put in one instant trademark performance as half human half Terminator Marcus Wright.

Edit Did You Know? Christian Bale was first offered the role of Marcus but took more interest in the character of John Connor, so rewrites took place to give him more of a substantial role throughout the film.
Goofs Apparently the only consequence of a nuclear holocaust would be the destruction of the cities without any residual radiation-the only byproduct of the holocaust are fires burning up randomly several years later in the middle of nowhere without any apparent reason or sustaining burnable debris.
Quotes [ first lines ] Dr. Serena Kogan : Marcus. How are you? Marcus Wright : Ask me in an hour. Alternate Versions Released on Blu-Ray as an R-rated director's cut with about three minutes of extra footage: When John Connor and company infiltrate the underground base, a sentry robot pops up and is quickly dispatched.
This scene was present in the teaser trailer. Extra dialogue between Connor and Ashdown on the submarine. Ashdown points a gun at Connor's head and says he doesn't believe in prophecy.
Blair bathes in the rain for a moment then sees Marcus looking at her. She covers herself and Marcus turns away. The scene with the two marauders is more violent.
Marcus is actually showing stabbing one of them in the shoulder with a screwdriver, the fistfight with the second guy is longer, and a bloody impact is seen when Blair shoots one of the marauders in the leg.
Longer dialogue from Blair during the campfire scene with Marcus. The sequence of the man being shot trying to scale the fence at the Skynet processing center is slightly longer.
John Connor's speech to the remaining resistance forces is extended. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries.

A third film some years later fell a bit flat and this movie was quite literally a salvation of the Terminator franchise, and I think it succeeded.
It's not as cerebral as the first two films with their mind-bending tackling of time travel but it's certainly not a brain-dead action flick.
It ties in nicely with its predecessors to create a comfortable cycle of films. Set in the dystopian future hinted at previously and dealing with an adult John Connor trying to save the young man who would eventually become his dad, we see the hardships of life in a world in the iron grip of the Skynet organisation.
The film is essentially a struggle for survival, but instead of fighting against a single cyborg there's a less identifiable baddie as both civilians and the resistance movement attempt to either evade or infiltrate the robot governed system.
The film is probably guilty of focusing on action effects at the expense of building genuine suspense, but unlike the CGI saturated blockbusters like Transformers, the action somehow seems more real.
The film has a greyish tint to it which saps colour to give it a unique look which adds to the futuristic feel and enhances the gritty urban visuals of a civilisation destroyed during Judgement Day.
The CGI blends seamlessly with the live action so that it doesn't look too polished or over-produced. Though I like Christian Bale, he is hardly the life and soul of the film, thankfully Sam Worthington injects some life and teen actor Anton Yelchin ensures there's a strong enough human element to balance plight of humanity against the machines.
I was absolutely convinced that he was the same character from the film which started it all. In a nutshell: It doesn't do anything new, but it still does it well and it benefits from the pedigree of being a sequel to two of the best film of the last 25 years - this makes it a worthy watch.
If this were a standalone film then it would struggle to be anything better than average, but it's part of something cemented into modern culture and makes various nods to it's history - after all, what better a phrase for the adult John Conner to say when leaving to battle other than "I'll be back"?
Great movie that I could watch alot. Good actor in the film Christian Bale who plays Batman in the dark knight trilogy. Great story to the film and good special affects through out.
The man who I forgot his name work with Christian bale is actually a robot It had a good working UV code which was a bit tricky to redeem onto my Google Play collection instead of Flixster since it shut down.
