First, I didn't feel like it really went anywhere. It's like you can tell it's trying to go somewhere but it's not really doing it.
Basically, this book was just full of the flock running, getting caught, running, getting beat up, running, getting chased by the cops, running Over and over.
After a while it was kind of predictable not to mention painful. It t The only reason this book doesn't get five stars from me is because I'm so confused by some things.
It took me a while to realize the focal point of the book: finding out who their parents are. James Patterson proves to be an expert with making great characters.
Max has a sarcastic sense of humor that I love. That being said, Angel is a little annoying. I'm kind of mean, but if I see a little kid in Wal-Mart whining and demanding a toy it just grates on my nerves like nothing else.
I try to cut her a break, since she's a six year old And the mind control thing is just creepy. I'm definitely reading the next one. I just can't quite let myself add it to my "favorites" shelf.

On the "plus" side, this novel has a very interesting premise and the book was a very fast read. On the "negative" side, there is not a whole lot of substance to the story and the character development is weak.
I was really hoping that the author would do something really great with the very cool concept of children genetically enhanced with avain DNA, but it just didn't happen.
Bottom-line, the book, while not horrible, was one I really didn't like. View 1 comment. She and all the members of the "flock"--Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman and Angel--are just like ordinary kids--only they have wings and can fly.

Review: At first, I sadly admit to abandoning this book. I think I was so hooked on saving Angel from the School that once they accomplished that, it should have ended.
But then they were talking about the Institute and blah, blah, blah I just was a teensy bit disappointed.
But I loved it the second round. And the third. She's such a strong leader, and a hilarious one. Her sarcasm and side thoughts crack me up on ever page.
I'm fond of her thinking and her bravery to protect her family. I'm eager to see what she evolves into and how she deals with it.
My first impression of him is this too-cool-for-you type guy. But really he's just shy in a not-shy kind-of way. He's ready to fight whenever, which isn't shy at all.
But feelings? As far as I know, he doesn't express them. You gotta work on that, Fang. Aww, I love Iggy. He's so, teenager-ish.
I mean, there's really no other way to put it. He and his little sidekick the Gasman like to get into trouble.
It's amazing what you can do when your blind, especially with Iggy. He's this mischievious whiz kid. The Gasman.
Even typing it makes me laugh. He's just as mischievious as Iggy, always getting into trouble, the two of them.
They have this cute brother relationship and I love it. It's adorable to watch them. The hungry one. Haha, nah, Nudge is so sweet.
I love how she's just this down-to-earth type kid. And she kicks butt. What's cuter? And Angel. She's so adorable!

They lived there as experiments until Jeb, a human scientist set them free. Each member of this group has been created with super-human abilities like great speed, strength, physic powers, and flight.
Angel, the youngest who is telepathic and can breathe underwater, is kidnapped by Erasers. Erasers are part human and part wolf and were also created at the School.
The head of the Erasers is a kid name Ari. Max sets off to save Angel and on the way she see a girl getting bullied so she goes to help her and ends up getting shot in her wing.
The girl, Ella, convinces Max to come home with her and she does. Martinez helps Max and takes her to hospital to get help. There they discover that Max has a tracer in her arm that cannot be removed.
When Max meets up with the rest of the flock they start to travel to the school again and end up getting attacked by the Erasers.
The erasers kidnap all of them except but Iggy and Gazzy. Max is brought back to the school and finds Jeb there where he discovers he was created to save the world.
Finally Iggy and Gazzy show up with a flock of hawks and escape from the school. They discover another place called the Institute that knows about the flock and that they might have parents.
Max begins to get very sick and has head pains. Again the Erasers show up and Jeb is there. He tells Max that she needs to save the world and demands all the Erasers to leave.
Max goes into the Institute and discovers that everyone of the Flock has a real name, parents. He prints out the list and realizes everyone lived near Washington, D.
They decide to head to D. Max and Ari fight and then they hear a crack. Ari has broken his neck and dies. He was the creator of the 1 new detective series of the past 5 years Maximum Ride series spent 20 weeks on the New York Timess best sellers lists and 14 of them were at 1.
Drawbacks or other cautions: It seemed a little too impossible the way the characters super-human talents showed up right when they needed them.
There was a lot going on throughout the book and then the ending ended very abruptly. A bizarre plot with a terrible beginning.
Without any sort of background we are plunged into action. It works for Riordan but unfortunately not here. Could not bring myself to read past the first 20 pages.

Yeah, that about sums up your book. View all 6 comments. This series is a mess. When Dr. Martinez performed an X-ray scan on Max, they discovered that a microchip described by Dr.
Martinez as tracking chips used for important animals such as show dogs was implanted in Max. Meanwhile, Iggy and the Gasman made traps for the Erasers and were successful in which they set a Hummer overturned, but the Erasers still survived.
Both of them were then surrounded by Erasers in an abandoned cabin and used their bomb known as Big Boy and flew to Lake Mead.
While looping back on their course to find Max, Nudge noticed that they were near to Tipisco, where Nudge's parents lived. Upon visiting the location, Fang and Nudge realized that they were in a trap which resulted in Fang being injured by Ari, a seven-year-old boy who was turned into an Eraser and had an appearance as a middle aged man, some time after they had escaped to the mountain home in the beginning.
Soon, Max healed and flew to Lake Mead. Max meets Fang and Nudge and later meets Iggy and the Gasman. The remaining Flock eventually were captured by the Erasers and were sent to The School.
While captured, Angel learns about an Institute, later known as "The Institute of Higher Living", from reading minds one of her powers , a place in New York City that may hold some secrets to their past.
The Flock escapes The School and with a happy re connection of the whole Flock together Max has a massive headache described as a brain explosion which later theorized as her brain making space for a Voice other than her own which pops up in her head.
With the Flock unsure of whether the voice is a friend or foe, Max decides to follow its cryptic instruction.
The voice leads Max and the Flock to The Institute, where they find a lab similar to The School and information on their unknown parents. At the Institute, the Flock also found several mutants and set them free.
Angel then brings a pet dog named Total with her and escapes with the Flock. As they escape, Max has to fight with Ari and wins by snapping his neck bone by accident.
The book ends with the Flock beginning their journey to Washington D. While running, she comes to a stop at a cliff edge and proceeds to jump off.
Upon jumping off, she snaps out her wings and flies away from the Erasers. Waking up, she realizes that it was all just a nightmare , then she throws on some clean clothes and heads to the kitchen of their house.
As she is looking for food, Gazzy enters the kitchen and tells her good morning. Max tells him good morning as well, and when he asks her what's for breakfast, she says it's a surprise.
Iggy soon comes into the kitchen as well and falls "with perfect aim" onto the Flock's couch. Fang also sneaks up behind Max and responds sarcastically when told to quit it.
Max then goes and awakens Nudge and Angel. At breakfast, Angel says that she wants to go strawberry picking, and the Flock soon does so; however, they are briefly delayed by Gazzy passing gas.
Shortly after they arrive outside, Erasers come and attack them, resulting in Angel getting kidnapped. The Flock tries to rescue her, but Ari Batchelder —the son of the Flock's "father", Jeb Batchelder —holds a gun to Max's head while she tries to get into the Erasers' helicopter, resulting in them getting away.
The rest of the Flock makes a plan to go and rescue Angel. The three of them fly and stop to find food at an abandoned vacation cottage, where they accidentally fall asleep.
She tells Fang and Nudge to meet her at the northernmost point of Lake Mead and then dives down. However, while defending Ella, she gets shot in the shoulder.
Martinez patches up her arm and discovers her wings. Fang and Nudge reach Lake Mead and spend the night in a cave, studying the flight patterns of the local hawks, while Iggy and Gazzy — resentful at being left behind and eager to fight off Erasers — begin working on traps and bombs.
The Erasers return to the area the next morning, only to drive into one of the traps. Iggy and Gazzy evade them and blow up their house in the process.
While there, Erasers ambush them with taunts that the house is destroyed and Iggy and Gazzy are dead. The two bird kids fight them off with spray paint, leaving Ari with green hair.
Martinez hides Max in a supply closet and seems unaffected by the Erasers. While Max spends a second night at the Martinez house making homemade chocolate chip cookies, Gazzy and Iggy arrive at Lake Mead and are reunited with Fang and Nudge.
Max rejoins them the next morning. Meanwhile, Angel is being badly mistreated at the School, forced to take part in exhausting and brutal experiments.
She finds out that Jeb is alive and working with the School. Reunited, the five Flock members set off once more for the School.
They stop at a strip mall, where they see a man using an ATM. Ari and the Erasers drive by and scare him off so quickly that he leaves his card behind, allowing the Flock to withdraw two hundred dollars.
They then steal a van and visit a fast food restaurant, each of them ordering a huge amount of food. They race out the exit with Erasers chasing after them and Max drives the van through a cornfield back onto a road where she immediately crashes into a sedan.
Erasers surround the wreck and pull them out. Some time later, their cages are taken outside, but they break out just as Iggy and Gazzy return with the hawks from Lake Mead.
